Welcome to Whiskers 'N' Paws!

Whiskers 'N' Paws (formerly known as DogDays Limerick) is Limerick’s first professional dog walking and pet minding service. DogDays was established by Elly Aalbers in September 2006 and was renamed to Whiskers 'N' Paws in September 2008. The new name shows that pet care is available to all those gorgeous domestic creatures (dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, etc) not just dogs. Whiskers 'N' Paws provides a reliable dog walking and pet minding service for dog owners with busy lives.

Whiskers 'N' Paws has a close working relationship with certified dog trainer Ger Sheehy of Fortwood Dog Training Kennels in Ballysteen, Askeaton, Co. Limerick.

How Whiskers 'N' Paws works

First, contact me for a free "Meet & Greet". I will come to your house to introduce myself to your dog(s) and assess his/hers needs. You can schedule daily, weekly, or non-regular walks. I will collect your dog in the bright orange van and he/she will be taken to a country or wooded area for a one-hour run. Along with maximum exercise, your dog will get to play, swim and interact with other dogs. I will then drop your dog back to your home, provide fresh water and leave a detailed activity sheet outlining your dog's adventures for the day. The benefits of having Whiskers 'N' Paws look after your pets are numerous and can help to minimize stress for both you and your pet.

A Little About Me

I am originally from Holland and have been living in Limerick since November 1994. I grew up with dogs and cats being a big part of my family life and believe they are as important as any member in the home. Dogs recognize a dog lover and are immediately at ease when meeting me. However, I will let them know their place in the pack and that I am their pack leader. Understanding dog behaviour is very important when walking dogs in a pack. My experience comes from working with dogs for a number of years. Also, I am certified in Dog Behaviour and Psychology.

My own dog, Jake, accompanies me on all of the walks. Jake is a mixed breed and was born in the Limerick Animal Welfare kennels in June 2008. I adopted Jake when he was 6 months old. He is a confident, well-trained dog and loves all his doggie friends, no matter what size or breed.

I really enjoy the outdoors and count quad- and motorbiking and horseriding as some of my many interests. I also played rugby for Shannon Ladies for a number of years and did some kickboxing. I live in Limerick city with my partner, the well-known musician Tom Ryan.
